More than a dozen members of the San Diego Surfrider chapter turned up Sunday July 6 for a tutorial beach walk along the Solana Beach coastline. Surfrider activists Jim Jaffee and Tom Cook explained the public policy and coastal science behind the city's long wall of armored coastline. We took advantage of the low tide to learn about the effects of seawalls on beach width and surfing reefs.
