Kids For Clean Water

Kids for Clean Water is our youth outreach and education program for students from K-12.

Elementary Level: This presentation educates elementary level youth on how trash reaches our oceans and the negative impacts this has on marine life. The presentation includes discussion of storm drains, trash entanglement and marine animal consumption of plastics. For smaller groups (of 8 or fewer) there is an option for a hands on activity on urban runoff utilizing a 3-d watershed model. The students will also learn about ways of reducing the trash they create, with an emphasis on plastics, and ways in which their actions can make a huge difference in ocean health.

Junior High Level: This presentation allows active participation from the students, and teaches the differences between point source and non‑point source pollution. Students will learn ways to minimize urban run‑off and other types of pollution, and how to be part of the solution.

High School Level: This presentation includes a 20-minute video that educates viewers on the water cycle, beach erosion, urban run‑off, and specific projects that Surfrider has done and is doing worldwide. This is a great introduction to what Surfrider does, and how we do it.

These presentations run approximately 40 minutes, but can be modified to fit your needs. Please remember that we are an all-volunteer organization, so the earlier you send us your request the easier it will be for us to accommodate your needs.
