Learn about the Source to Sea Project

Join us for our next chapter meeting on Wednesday, October 17th from 7-8:30pm at the California Center for Sustainable Energy.

Our guest speaker this month is Shannon Switzer who will be speaking about her Source to Sea project.  Shannon used a combination of photography, cinematography and interviews to document the health of our watershed system here in San Diego County and how it affects the health of our marine ecosystems and local citizens.  As part of the project, Shannon trekked an estimated 90 miles on foot from the headwaters of the San Dieguito River in the Volcan Mountains down to the river mouth at Dog Beach in Del Mar.

Shannon Switzer is a National Geographic Young Explorer and 2012 Freshwater Hero.  She is a published conservation and travel photojournalist.  Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara.  For more on Shannon Switzer go to www.girlchasesglobe.com or follow her on Twitter @GirlChasesGlobe.
