Well then, it’s Ocean Beach Surf and Skate to the rescue! OBSS will be offering their rental soft-top boards free of charge for this event to experienced paddlers. Surfrider is stoked to have the support from OBSS and hopefully this will encourage more people to carpool, bike and take the bus/mass transit to the event. (Bus lines 923 and 35 have a stop at Newport Ave. & Cable Ave. which is three blocks from the event.)
Please note that the paddle around the pier is approximately one mile long and takes people between 20 and 60 minutes to complete. While this is a non-competitive event it is still very strenuous and not for the faint-of-heart. Everyone that borrows a board needs to be in good shape and must sign a liability waiver that morning.
To reserve a board, simply email info@surfriderSD.org with “Paddle Board” in the subject line. For more info on Ocean Beach Surf & Skate and their Ocean Experience surf school, please visit www.obsurfandskate.com and www.oceanexperience.net
