Surfrider San Diego welcomes So. Cal artist Josh Serafin to the Art Gala mix, with a ‘mixed media’ piece he calls ‘Serafin’s Mix’   This framed piece is 11″ x 14″ from his new collection of mixed media work, ie oil, beeswax, ink etc. Josh is a super hard working artist from Huntington Beach who is constantly getting out there and showing his art at various locales / art fairs throughout California.  Here’s a few words from Josh about his work…

What did that lingering of salt air at the beach look like?  I saw an orange haze with small black dots floating across my eyes. What hue did theG chord strike feel like?  It gave me the chills; I saw an oozing of midnight blue.  As we digest life we are enlightened by connections. For most, these connections are momentary.  For others, this is when art takes its form, relying on emotional experience rather than duplicatingphysical reality.  Spending time with each creation, working simultaneously, and letting works of art cross-pollinate is essential.   This is expressionism, with its use of bold lines, layering of many colors, exaggerating shapes, variation of textures, use of chemical reactions and fearless of risk.
