makers of "sessionable," handcrafted beer and the first to package them in cans, announced that it has selected Latitude 33 Brewing Co. as its San Diego brewing partner.

The partnership will enable The Fat Cat Beer Company to establish a brewing presence in San Diego, delivering on one of its strategic goals for 2014. This will allow the Company to grow its footprint and include draught skus in San Diego where the Company already distributes its own beer.

"In making this decision, it was paramount that we partner with an outstanding brewing operation with which we could establish transparency and an opportunity for strategic growth in San Diego. We found that partner in Latitude 33," said Bruce Taub, Fat Cat Beer CEO and longtime San Diego resident.

"Partnering with The Fat Cat Beer Company has been a seamless exercise," said Kevin Buckley, partner and head brewer for Latitude 33. "We have begun to brew beer for them and look forward to being their San Diego brewing source for years to come."

In conjunction with the partnership, The Fat Cat Beer Company will roll out its small batch, limited release series program which will focus on growing its overall number of beer styles in each of its markets.

The first limited series beer will be a small batch, Czech styled pilsner beer. The beer will be a tribute offering called Bro-ceanography™ Pils, which is brewed using the finest pale malt, German malt and Saaz hops, giving it a rich golden hue. At 5.2% ABV and 28 IBU, it is a refreshing, sessionable pilsner that makes it a great go to, thirst quenching beer when surfers wrap it up for the day. Bro-ceanography Pils will be available in draught at various San Diego bars and restaurants and festivals throughout the county.

"Why the name? We live in one of the most beautiful places in the world and our shorelines are known for some of the best surf the continental USA has to offer," said Taub. "Bro-ceanography Pils is a perfect tribute beer because it honors those talented souls who practice the art and science of evaluating weather patterns and tide conditions to predict when and where the surf is up."

The Fat Cat Beer Company will donate a portion of the sales proceeds from the limited release program to a specific charity/non-profit whose mission ties into an applicable limited release beer's theme. For the initial release of the Bro-ceanography Pils, the Company has selected the San Diego chapter of the Surfrider Foundation which is all about protecting the shorelines, beaches and oceans around the world.

When presented with the opportunity, Haley Jain Haggerstone, manager of the Surfrider Foundation's San Diego chapter, said, "We're stoked to partner with Fat Cat Beers on their new Bro-ceanography Pils. Surfers love beer and now they can drink beer and support our mission at the same time."

The Fat Cat Beer Company offers five other distinctly different, sessionable craft beers in a can, including its Fat Cat™ Lager, Sultans of Wheat®, Shawshank's Injunction™ Pale Ale, Beale St™ Brown Ale and Confession™ IPA.
