San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) is conducting environmental scoping as the first step in the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) process for the Buena Vista Lagoon Enhancement Project.
As part of environmental scoping, SANDAG has published a Notice of Preparation and is conducting a 30-day public comment period (learn how to submit comments). At the public meeting scheduled for 6:30 pm on May 9th, the SANDAG project team will provide information about the project and EIR process, and will solicit input on the types of environmental issues, mitigation, and alternatives to address in the EIR.
The Buena Vista Lagoon Enhancement Project includes completing engineering studies and preparing an EIR per the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). A minimum of four alternatives will be evaluated: three enhancement alternatives (freshwater, saltwater, and a saltwater/ freshwater hybrid regime) and a no project alternative. SANDAG is engaging stakeholders and the public in considering alternatives through the EIR process that will run through fall 2014. If the process results in the selection of a preferred enhancement alternative, then SANDAG may lead the implementation of that alternative.
