Save Solana Beach and Encinitas' Reef Breaks

Written by SFSDAdministrator | Jun 20, 2013 9:49:27 PM

The cities of Solana Beach and Encinitas are considering a 50-year beach nourishment project by the Army Corp of Engineers with good intentions. However, all of the alternatives they are considering stand to transform precious reef breaks (including Table Tops, Pill Box, and Stone Steps) into beach breaks, and that is not deemed a significant impact by their own draft Environmental Review documents. We beg to differ!

If you think these reefs are worth saving, sign our petition requesting that the cities of Solana Beach and Encinitas use less sand for this beach nourishment project.

For more background on this project, check out our previous blog posts about recent decisions by Solana Beach and Encinitas regarding this project as well as an interview with Jim Moriarty, Surfrider CEO, about this plan.

So sign the petition, send it to your friends, and spread the word.
