Last year, our chapter partnered with Tijuana-based environmental non-profit PFEA (Proyecto Fronterizo de Educacion Ambiental) to assist their launch of Restaurante Amigo Del Mar, which is mirrored off our successful OFR program in San Diego. PFEA’s mission is to protect the ocean, streams and coasts of the Tijuana River watershed. Since a significant portion of coastal pollution comes from disposable foodware, the OFR program aligned perfectly with their mission. They even made a promotional video in English!
Ocean pollution knows no borders. For this reason, we’re very fortunate PFEA is spreading the vision of a more sustainable restaurant industry to our neighbors across the border. From all of us at Surfrider San Diego, THANK YOU PFEA for adopting the OFR program & for all your work to protect our shared coastline!
And next time you’re in Tijuana, be sure to visit a Restaurante Amigo Del Mar!
