In early June 2020, Surfrider San Diego received reports that an entire curb (~120 feet) on Camino del Collado in La Jolla Shores had been suspiciously painted red without notification or justification. Surfrider worked with the City of San Diego to confirm that the curb had been illegally painted, and to see that the parking spaces were restored to the public with a new coat of gray paint.

Camino del Collado is one block east of La Jolla Shores, a popular beach that includes multiple surf breaks and is used for all kinds of recreation. Every parking space counts in this area where spots are highly desirable and hard to come by, especially in the summer months.
