TAKE ACTION

SUPPORT A SINGLE-USE PLASTIC ORDINANCE FOR CORONADO

Exciting development! Let's take action!!

Single-use plastics are on the Coronado City Council agenda for tomorrow (Tuesday, September 17th).

The Council previously directed staff to review City, County, and State policies regarding single-use plastic products. The analysis has been completed, and staff will present the completed "Review of Single--Use Plastic Regulations/"

The report includes the following options for the Council to discuss: "direct staff to continue to monitor pending state legislation (e.g., SB 1053, AB 1590), conduct additional research, prepare and return with ordinances of interest, or take no action at this time."

We are advocating for the development and adoption of a comprehensive ordinance to reduce single-use plastics.

Coronado is the only beach city in San Diego County that has yet to implement plastic reduction policies, and the decision made by the Council will determine if they will finally move forward with an ordinance to reduce single-use plastics.

We hope you can join us in person in Coronado and/or will send an email in support. Here’s how you can participate:

Comments/Talking Points: (Even a simple statement, such as the example below, will be impactful.)

I urge the Coronado City Council to direct staff to draft a comprehensive single-use plastic reduction ordinance in order to address plastic pollution caused by polystyrene foam (Stryrofoam) products, single-use plastic takeaway bags, single-use plastic beverage bottles, and single-use plastic foodservice-ware.
