Comments from restaurants:
Staci from Millers Table: "Being right by the beautiful blue sea in Oceanside, The Miller’s Table is committed to ocean friendly practices. We have implemented eco-conscious practices such as using sustainable seafood, root-to fruit food use and waste practices and compostable packaging for any take home “left-overs". We source our seafood from local fishermen who use sustainable fishing methods to ensure healthy stocks of marine life. We also use eco-friendly cleaning products to maintain a clean and healthy environment for our staff and customers. Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our restaurant and into our community, where we actively promote ocean friendly habits. We are proud of our commitment to ocean friendly practices and hope to inspire others to join us in protecting our precious oceans."

Other news:
A big thank you long time supporter of the Surfrider Foundation, Serea for donating to this year's Gala!!
There are lots of plastic alternatives for foodware on the market, some touting to be "biodegradable" or "compostable" when it's not exactly true, or only true in very specific (often hard to achieve) circumstances. This poses a big challenges for restaurants trying to do the right thing. Surfrider has created a handy "Foodware Guide" for folks to learn what's what.
