Pass a Comprehensive Plastics Ordinance in Chula Vista

Pass a Comprehensive Plastics Ordinance in Chula Vista

Surfrider San Diego is working with the City of Chula Vista and community members to pass a comprehensive plastics reduction ordinance

The San Diego County Chapter is proud to extend its plastic reduction advocacy bayside to Chula Vista, the County's second largest city in terms of population after San Diego. Plastic pollution from single-use plastics and other sources makes its way from Chula Vista's streets to San Diego Bay, and from there, to the ocean. Chapter activists are working alongside Chula Vista-based South Bay Sustainable Communities to support a comprehensive ordinance that includes prohibitions on polystyrene foam (Styrofoam), single-use foodware accessories and condiments, plastic bags, helium balloons, and plastic water bottles.
