Join us for the 32nd Annual Paddle for Clean Water, hosted by the Surfrider Foundation San Diego County Chapter on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 9:00 am at Mission Beach Park (just south of Belmont Park).
Originally launched in the 90s as a protest against sewage pollution, the Paddle for Clean Water has grown into an annual event uniting surfers, swimmers, and ocean enthusiasts in a powerful show of solidarity for protecting our coastline and improving ocean water quality.
This year, we're doing things a bit differently. While the event is iconic for paddling around the Ocean Beach Pier, our new location brings a fresh opportunity. Paddlers will be asked to head past the break and line up in the water, creating a striking visual, similar to Hands Across the Sand, but in the water. Together, we’ll make a bold statement for clean water.
The event also invites San Diegans to come together and participate in a variety of activities including morning yoga, a coastal ribbon project, a paddle out, a beach cleanup, and live music—all while celebrating the year’s accomplishments.
Regretfully, we must postpone our inaugural 2026 Surfrider San Diego Surf-a-thon originally scheduled for October 11, 2026. We’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the event to give us additional time to build the support needed to make our first Surf-a-thon a successful and memorable event for everyone involved.
We are working on a new date and will share updates as soon as they are available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate your patience and understanding.
We are especially thankful to the donors and surfers who have already signed up and supported our inaugural Surf-a-thon. Your support is not going anywhere! Any fundraising you have already completed will still count toward the rescheduled event, so you will not be starting over.
We also look forward to coming back with updated prize packages, including opportunities to recognize our top fundraisers, as well as more activities for the public to engage with.
Thank you for supporting Surfrider Foundation San Diego County and for helping us build what we hope will become an annual tradition. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
