Victory: Connecticut Passes Pesticide Reporting Modernization Act
We’re excited to share a major victory for environmental transparency and public health in Connecticut.
HB 5155, An Act Concerning Pesticide Reporting Modernization, has officially passed both the Connecticut House and Senate unanimously and now heads to the Governor’s desk to be signed into law.
This legislation modernizes Connecticut’s pesticide reporting system, helping improve transparency, accessibility, and the collection of critical data related to pesticide use across the state. Better reporting means stronger tools to help protect our waterways, coastal ecosystems, wildlife, and communities.
Our chapter was proud to support this effort as part of the Connecticut Pesticide Reform (CPR) coalition. During testimony at the State House, we shared the importance of pesticide tracking and transparency for protecting water quality, coastal recreation, and shellfish habitats — including oysters and the ecosystems and economies that depend on them.
This victory would not have been possible without the dedicated advocacy of coalition partners, supporters, legislators, and community members who spoke up throughout the legislative process.
We’re proud to support policies that advance clean water, healthy beaches, and safer communities — and we’re grateful to everyone who helped move this bill across the finish line.
Thank you to everyone who took action in support of HB 5155. Together, we’re building a healthier future for Connecticut’s coastlines and communities.
