Let's Get A Balloon Ban to the Encinitas City Council!

On Thursday, October 14, the Encinitas Environmental Commission will consider the final DRAFT ordinance to ban the sale, use, and release of all lighter than air balloons in the city of Encinitas. This is the last step before the ordinance is recommended to the City Council for adoption. The meeting begins at 5:30pm.

Today we are asking all ocean, wave and beach lovers  - especially residents of Encinitas and other North County cities - to submit a quick email comment in support of this ordinance. Even though the meeting is scheduled for October 14, written comments are due on Friday, Oct 8 by 5pm.

For those of us who understand the harms caused by balloons, it's hard to believe that intentional releases still enjoy widespread popularity in the U.S.
