Whew, what an event. For the first time in event history, the paddle ’round the pier was ‘postponed’ til next year because of big waves. There were 8-10+ faces on the sets and some waves were brushing up against the bottom of the pier. At the recommendation of the lifeguards we did not host the group paddle and it turned into the ‘surf for clean water’ with some of the locals and visitors alike putting on a show.
The festival and awareness event went on. We talked to hundreds of people about border pollution issues in South Bay San Diego County and hosted eco-friendly vendors that had a green impact on the day. The highlights of the day were the afternoon music sets. The bands really ripped it up on the Sustainable Waves solar stage.
Many thanks to the event sponsors one more time: Clif Bar, Gro Solar, Vivix 659 clothing, Stone Brewing Co., Cali Bamboo and 91X. And many thanks to the volunteers, we could not do it without you!
