The California Environmental Quality Act (aka CEQA) is currently under attack. CEQA promotes democratic participation in the decision-making process about how and where large projects are located, and ensures that efforts are made to minimize resulting environmental damage. This vital California law is essential in our efforts to protect the environment around us. It’s no surprise that big developers and major polluting industries are pushing the legislature to weaken California’s environmental protections while every major conservation group opposes drastic changes.
