Do You Really Know Your H2O?

Join us for our next quarterly chapter meeting on Wednesday, October 15th from 6:30-8:30pm at the Karl Strauss Tasting Room, located at 5985 Santa Fe Street. Guests will receive one free taster courtesy of Karl Strauss and pizza from Woodstock’s Pizza. This meeting will be focused on our Know Your H2O program and we will have two guest speakers joining us: Hall Razek, Director of the Public Utilities Department for the City of San Diego, and Kevin M. Hardy, General Manager of the Encina Wastewater Authority.

Halla will be presenting on Pure Water San Diego, the City's phased multi-year program to provide a safe, secure, and sustainable local drinking water supply for San Diego. Recycled water will be turned into drinkable water through the use of water purification technology. The program will make San Diego more water independent and is an effective solution for increasing ocean environment protection and securing a modified permit renewal for the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant. Kevin will speak about how the Encina Wastewater Authority is using solids to make fertilizer and generating 70% of their own electricity -- both of these are improvements that other wastewater treatment plants in our area could use to reduce their environmental impact.
