Join the Rise Above Plastics committee on Tuesday, August 11th at 7pm for a screening of Into the Gyre at Amplified AleWorks. Amplified Ale Works is a certified Ocean Friendly Restaurant and is doing a lot to reduce the amount of waste that ends up on our beaches. Into the Gyre is an award-winning documentary about a groundbreaking expedition to study the location, extent and effect of plastic pollution in the North Atlantic Ocean. Thirty-four volunteer researchers, scientists and sailors participated in this five- week long adventure to the remote Sargasso Sea, east of Bermuda. One of the scientists, Emelia DeForce, will be on hand to answer questions after the film. Amplified will have $3 tacos and $12 pitchers of beer. All ages welcome.
