Join us for our first quarterly chapter meeting of the year on Wednesday, January 22nd from 6:30-8:30pm at the newly renovated Karl Strauss Tasting Room, located at 5985 Santa Fe Street. Guests will receive one free taster courtesy of Karl Strauss and pizza from Woodstock's Pizza.
This meeting will be focused on our Beach Preservation campaign. We will be showing a portion of the award-winning documentary Shored Up. The film will be followed by a few words from our Beach Preservation committee on the work they're doing here in San Diego and how you can get involved.
Shored Up is a documentary that asks tough questions about our coastal communities and our relationship to the land. What will a rising sea do to our homes, our businesses, and the survival of our communities? Can we afford to pile enough sand on our shores to keep the ocean at bay? Beach engineering has been our only approach so far, but is there something else out there to be explored? Our development of the coastlines put us in a tough predicament, and it’s time to start looking for solutions. Watch the trailer here: http://shoredupmovie.com/
