Yet another solid meeting with new faces and fresh ideas!
Art Instutute student Johnny, a new father, wants his children to enjoy the ocean just as he has. Johnny wrote and illustrated a children's book about a curious little soft shell crab named Shelby. Johnny also envisions youth beach cleanups and awareness flash mobs by students groups called "Soft Shells".
In other news, Solana Beach City Counsel has been asked to review their fully implemented plastic bag reduction ordinance at an upcoming meeting on March 27 at 6pm. Surfrider wants to encourage anyone who can make it to the meeting to cheer on the Counsel's ordinance and send a message that single use plastic bags are not wanted in this ocean community.

Surfrider San Diego's next Chapter Meeting will be on April17th followed by a still tentative screening of Bag It near UCSD campus on the 18th.
