These amazing restaurants not only meet the OFR criteria to help reduce waste, but are a part of a broader sustainability effort by Hilton Hotels called Travel with Purpose. According to Hilton, “Travel with Purpose is Hilton’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy to drive responsible travel and tourism globally. Through Travel with Purpose, we seek to create positive environmental and social impact across our operations, supply chain, and communities.”

Hilton is committed to reducing waste and is working towards a circular economy by implementing waste prevention, recycling and food upcycling and donation programs. “Upcycled foods are made from ingredients that would otherwise have ended up in a food waste destination(Upcycled Food Association). Hilton has pledged to reduce their waste by 50% by 2030.

Hilton is the first major hotel company to reduce greenhouse gas emissions using science-based targets in line with the Paris Agreement.  Renewable power, monitoring energy use with new technologies and focusing on energy efficiency are key to helping them meet their net-zero economy goals.

“Hilton is committed to reducing our water use intensity by 50% by 2030, and implementing 20 community water projects to increase access and resilience.” (Hilton)

Here are just a few of Hilton’s Social Sustainability accomplishments:

  • 220,657 people provided with access to clean water
  • 18,087,484 pounds of food donated to communities in need
  • 112,420 learning and career growth opportunities created
