San Diego Plastic Bag Ban in Process

On September 11th, 2013 the City of San Diego's Rules and Economic Development Committee voted unanimously to move forward with the process of drafting a plastic bag reduction ordinance AKA bag ban.  Read this UT article titled San Diego Moves to Ban Plastic Bags for a recap of the meeting.

The committee met again on October 24th, 2013 to review staff recommendations on the ordinance process and once again voted unanimously to continue moving forward.  The next steps are to undergo an environmental review and finalize the ordinance language.  The measure might not reach the full council for another nine months.  For more on this topic, read this UT article titled San Diego Bag Ban Moves Forward.
