In 2010, Steve Roeder's front yard in La Jolla was transformed from turf into a beautiful certified Ocean Friendly Garden by Steve and a group of dedicated Surfrider volunteers. Since then, his new yard has been featured in various news articles, was the winner of Cali Bamboo's 2011 Greenscape Challege, and was recently featured as a stop in the California Native Plant Society's inaugural San Diego Native Garden Tour. Steve's OFG is also now a runner up in this year's "California Friendly" Landscape Challenge, an annual local competition sponsored by various water agencies in San Diego County.
