"Please support the plastic bag reduction ordinance being proposed for Solana Beach.  Solana Beach can be a leaders in San Diego County by making the first citywide commitment to reduce single-use plastic bags.  Plastic bags do not biodegrade and threaten wildlife when littered - in addition to being an eyesore, costing taxpayer dollars to clean up, clogging drains and creating mosquito breeding grounds in warmer months.  Plastic bag recycling has proven ineffective, as have voluntary efforts to reduce the use of single-use plastic bags.  The time is now for this proposed ordinance.
