17 Surfrider Ocean Friendly Restaurants To Try During San Diego Restaurant Week

It’s that time again! The semi-annual San Diego Restaurant Week is here, from Sunday, September 25th to Sunday, October 2nd. This is the perfect time to try a new restaurant as participating restaurants span across San Diego county. Enjoy 8 days of delicious food and exclusive menus from brunch to three-course prix-fixe dinner. To prepare for the 8-day event, we’ve curated a list of 17 Surfrider Ocean Friendly Restaurants to try during San Diego Restaurant Week.

What is the Surfrider Ocean Friendly Restaurant Program?

The Surfrider Foundation is a powerful activist network dedicated to protecting and enjoying our world’s oceans and beaches. The Ocean Friendly Restaurant program was first launched in 2013 with Surfrider's Huntington Beach chapter and quickly expanded to become a nationally recognized program in 2018. The Surfrider Ocean Friendly Restaurants program recognizes restaurants committed to making sustainable choices for our oceans by complying with seven mandatory criteria (e.g., only reusable foodware is used for onsite dining and no plastic bags are used for takeout or to-go orders) and three optional criteria (e.g., a discount is offered for customers with a reusable item and composting efforts are in place for food waste). Our San Diego chapter has over 50 Ocean Friendly Restaurants around San Diego. To learn more about the Ocean Friendly Restaurant program, visit sandiego.surfrider.org.
